Hey all! So guess what I am doing right now? Well besides blogging obviously! I am sitting in our recliner in the living room (yeah I get internet connection in here still can't believe it hasn't cut out yet!) and I am eating saltines and drinking water and am about to take 4 Ibuprofen. Why 4 do you ask? Well, heh, here is a video from last night that might give you a clue?:
Here are some facts about that movie: Jen composed that song on the spot. I was really bored. I am easily distracted :-p ANd at the end it cut off and I sounded like I was high on pain killers WHICH I WASN'T!
So yeah, I broke my foot last night. I was riding a horse bareback and all the sudden it spooked and starting rearing and bucking and it was all I could do not to fall off then, suddenly, he jerked to the left and I went to the right landing with my right foot turned under me and taking most of my weight. Ok fine, he wasn't bucking or rearing. We were actually just coming around a corner and I lost my balance and let myself slide off but I landed wrong (hence the broken foot). Anyway, I heard the bone snap and I went "oh man" since I was kinda in the middle of nowhere. The weirdest part was that at first it didn't hurt it was just numb so I got back to the house (traveler stayed right next to me the whole time eating) and Dad ended up taking me to the ER for like the 2nd time in 4 months! So I had it x-rayed (yeah NOT fun) and then afterwards the docter came in and told me that I had fractured my foot and also suceeded in ripping the tendon away from the bone on the top of my right foot. SO they wrapped it in an ACE bandage and sent me home with crutches and told us to make an appointment with another docter on Monday.
In the meantime I am sitting around reading my Bible ALOT and trying desperately not to even twitch my foot the smallest bit b/c if I do it is excruciating. Actually I wasn't too bad last night after I got home But this morning was awful! Before I took my ibuprofen of course :)
SO yeah last night I had a revelation. Kinda. I had to make a trip to the ladies room and let me tell you I was in tears...'nough said. Anyway, so I got back to the couch and I went to lay back down (I have to keep my leg elevated till I see the doctor tomorrow) and on the inside I was going "God, why did this happen? How could I have been so stupid? I can't believe I am stuck on the couch and in so much pain, why did You let this happen?" and I was sitting there basically feeling very sorry for myself God brought to mind the last issue of Voice of the Martyrs that I had read and the stories in there of fellow brothers and sisters for Christ that are being brutally beaten and tormented and killed for the sake of the gospel. I looked down at my foot and thought of all the christions that have broken and bruised bodies and have no access to hospitals, no family to care for them and no pain killers to help ease the pain. Talk about putting things in perspective! It made me realize that while this can seem very "inconvenient" and "untimely" I can have 2 reactions:
#1: Be surly and angry and impatient while waiting for it to heal
#2: Be thankful and take this time of being laid up to draw closer to the Lord through the reading of His Word and prayer and also to take this oppurtunity to pray for others that are suffering but in a much deeper way. Mine is really just physical but there are so many of our brothers and sisters in the Lord that are suffering not only physically but spiritually and mentally.
So yeah, I had a major attitude change :) Plus, I am the 1st of us kids to ever have a broken bone, that is something I am very proud of! SO here I am! These pics were taken last night and I believe that the living room is going to become my temporary room for now. So here I am:
So anyway, this morning I got this really really neat devotional in my inbox thought I would share it with ya'll. God has been really really really making me realize how I need to be in the Word and in prayer each and everyday and just hungering and thirsting to KNOW my God better. I am actually excited I broke my foot b/c I have spent more time with God today then I have in a very long time! He is so good :) So here it is:
Your Personal Guide
by Dr. Paul Chappell
“Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,”
2 Timothy 1:9
God’s Word—don’t leave home without it!
One day Dwight Morrow and his wife, the parents of Anne Lindbergh, were in Rugby, England. After wandering through the streets they realized that they had lost their way. At this moment an incident occurred that entered into Morrow's philosophy and became a guiding principle in his life. He stopped a little Rugby lad about twelve years old. “Could you tell us the way to the station?” he asked. “Well,” the boy answered, “You turn to the right there by the grocer's shop and then take the second street to the left. That will bring you to a place where four streets meet. And then, sir, you had better inquire again.”
Finding God’s will for our life requires the exact same directions the little lad gave. Go the path we’ve been shown, stop, ask for direction from God again, then go the way He leads. Stopping to seek God’s will through Bible reading and godly counsel is vital along the road of life.
Romans 8:28-29 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
The words “he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son” indicate that God has a predetermined plan for your life. His purpose is that you would become more like His Son, Jesus Christ, as you walk in His Spirit according to His Word.
God has a plan, a certain path He desires for you to take. Imagine if before you left for a family vacation you purposefully left the map at home. How would you know where to go, what road to travel, or which direction to head? The map is the most important asset for your journey!
Even so, God’s Word is your most important asset along your life’s journey. Without it, how do you know which path to take, what decision to make, and how to live? The Bible is your guidebook for life. Don’t journey without it!
Are you in the middle of God’s will? Do you know the path He has for you? Take time now to seek God’s leading. If you have a decision to make in your life, lay it before God and seek His will in the matter. Always seek God’s will in a decision, no matter how big or small! Because above all else, God saved us to live for Him and according to His purpose.
I thought that was appropiate :) Anyway, I am off to go...sit! hehe :) Blessings to you all!

VOM always gets me in a better frame of mind! Always! I am so spoiled compared to other Christians!
Love you! Heal quick!
Oh goodness girl! I am so sorry! I haven't broken any bones either. I saw on your Facebook that you had broken your foot, but I didn't have time to comment b/c I was on my way out the door. I used to get the VOM. It was always an eye-opening experience! I'm glad you've drawn closer to God through this. I am so bad about spending time in the Word right now. Maybe I should go do that. It's just frustrating b/c I have to read the Bible so much for school that I feel like I don't even want to pick it up other than that. How awful is that?
Get better SOON!!!

The latest VOM...would that be the October one? I was just reading that this morning. Like the big hills I attack with my bike, I cannot but view working in North Korea as a challenge.
No it was Novembers. The most recent one about Iran.
Ok, yeah that one is still lying on my big blue chair, unopened as of yet.
It's a good one...very thought provoking. But then they all are :)
